This is a brand new unit that comes with charging cord, and battery . This purchase is for the device  and service! You will select your package upon checkout and have the option to only purchase the monthly service and use your own modem or purchase our modem and service. There is a list of approved modems on the front website that will give details if you would like to use a different unit.
